What you'll do
The Community Programs Assistant volition assist the Blackness Theatre Troupe in coordinating and facilitating community arts relationships in the Eastlake Park community from their office in the Helen K. Mason Performing Arts Center in downtown Phoenix. This position plays an important role in the implementation of classes, workshops, and initiatives that impact the company and their relationship to the community by assisting our Community Relations workers. The person will exist working with and learning from Blackness Theatre Troupe staff, instructors, and volunteers. Duties likewise include assisting in scheduling revenue-generating activities, maintaining records and managing supplies every bit related to Blackness Theatre Troup. Most chiefly, the aide will aid the instructors and administrators of our youth related activities and programs. This position plays an important role in community driven initiatives, neighborhood activations, schoolhouse residencies and managing performing arts contracts, training and supporting consequence staff and volunteers, preparing marketing materials, and supporting programming that is inclusive, accessible, and engaging for all ages and abilities.

Executive Director David Hemphill
David J. Hemphill has been a member of the Phoenix business and arts customs for over 40 years. David has served as Executive Managing director of the Blackness Theatre Troupe since 1995. His credits as a performer include many regional and touring productions. Locally he has performed with Phoenix Theatre and Actors Theatre. His favorite role is that of Executive Director at BTT, where he oversaw tremendous growth and saw the company through its first uppercase renovations, followed by its move into its electric current cute home in downtown Phoenix. David makes all programming choices, in conjunction with a complex network of customs manufacture professionals. He frequently directs BTT productions. In 2020, Hemphill was recognized for his service to Black Theatre Troupe at the inaugural celebration of Black Theatre Troupe's Legacy Leadership Society. Nether Hemphill's leadership, Black Theatre Troupe was named an awardee for the Large Organization category for the 2021 Governor's Arts Awards.

The Phoenix ArtCorps
The Phoenix ArtCorps is a student employment plan from the Phoenix Office of Arts and Civilisation that seeks to provide students with the comprehensive skills, mentorship, and experience they need to launch their arts and culture careers.
