Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet Can You Change Your Hair

Similar 1980s fashion trends, Sword Art Online is ane of those cultural phenomena that starts out reddish hot but ends up evoking an opposite reaction afterward on.
I remember when SAO flare-up into the scene as the light novel's first anime adaptation created a ton of buzz. That initial season is unmarried-handedly responsible for creating a whole new generation of young anime fans outside of Japanese shores, which I consider to be a practiced thing.

As with many things that become popular, however, there is virtually, always a resulting backlash. Only a few years after, SAO became the cool anime to hate, even among some of the very people who get-go got interested in the genre because of it. Information technology certainly isn't "Your Name" or "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju." But I've always liked SAO's concept and welcome the opportunity to play games that are set in its earth.
Admittedly, most SAO games I've played accept felt a bit lacking. Games like Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, for example, showed fleeting glimpses of promise, particularly with the gainsay. Ultimately, though, the games fail to fully realize their potential, typically getting bogged down by roughly realized town segments and some clunky mechanics.
As such, I was taken aback by my experience with Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. Even with my express moveset and options during the tutorial mission, I saw the foundation for what could be a fun game right away. By the time I started raiding the early dungeons and building upwards my skills, I was hooked. This was actually the first game to rip me out of my addiction to Monster Hunter World, which I've been playing nonstop for more than a month prior to playing Fatal Bullet.
Part of it is because the game kind of feels like an anime Monster Hunter with guns and Sword Fine art Online characters. In fact, if there'southward a particular SAO character you like, chances are loftier that the person is in the game because the whole harem, er, gang is near all here. These include fan favorites such as Asuna and fifty-fifty Hollow Realization's Premiere, who I admittedly developed a soft spot for after playing the aforementioned game. Eventually, you lot can recruit all those familiar faces, including a certain person who'southward clad in black from head to toe and is surrounded by women. That person's simply the worst, you know. Just enquire Bazalt Joe.
Technobubble:9 Best Skills in Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet
In Fatal Bullet, you assume the part of a newbie histrion who gets convinced by a childhood friend to play Gun Gale Online. The "osananajimi" flag is strong in this 1. You can edit your character to either be a boy or a daughter and customize your avatar with a selection of looks and hairstyles straight out of the SAO bandage's ensemble. Afterwards on, you acquire an AI partner called Arfa-Sys who can be customized the same way. In my case, I decided to go confronting my usual convention of playing as a female character and decided to play as a male, anime-fied version of myself with spiky hair. I also decided to match virtual me with a female person Arfa-Sys. Aye, I just realized that I created a "waifu," perhaps subliminally, for my virtual self. Somewhere in hell, the devil is freezing his tail off.
Although y'all tin can alter the personality of your Arfa-Sys, I decided to stick with the default bubbly and air-headed personality instead of the cool or potent personality I normally choose in other games. That's because bubbly, air-headed Arfa-Sys is but freaking adorable. As well, if I wanted cool yet amusing at the same time, I could always only stick Premiere in my party. She'due south a hoot in this game, too, especially as the influence of Kirito's band of female misfits impacts her once blank personality. To her credit, Premiere'southward got a lot more guts than most of those other girls, at least when it comes to letting Kirito know how she feels.

The game itself uses a hub-and-spoke arrangement where y'all start off in your room in a virtual boondocks that serves as your base of operations. From at that place, y'all can visit friends such as Kirito'southward gang and gradually improve your graphic symbol by using experience and other spoils that you earn from the field. The field itself has an open expanse that leads to various dungeons. Combat can be triggered in either place and you take the option to accept several AI partners with you or hookup with friends for an online multiplayer session.
Fighting on the field and dungeons is when Fatal Bullet becomes most fun. You have the choice to use several weapon types, which predominantly come in the form of firearms because Gun Gale is a shooting MMO. These include handguns, rifles, shotguns and launchers. This existence a Sword Art Online game, you also have the pick to wield a sword or a gun and sword combination.

Depending on the weapons that you equip, y'all can use dissimilar sets of skills that can exist acquired and leveled upwards every bit yous progress in the game. These typically serve a class type, which include tanks, assault and support. As you lot acquire more skills, yous'll have an assortment of buffs, debuffs and special moves to play with and fine tune to create your preferred warrior. You lot tin even reassign skill and graphic symbol points every bit long as you get out one of your loadout slots every bit it was in the beginning, allowing you to keep readjusting to play around with various builds.
The gainsay itself uses real-time action with skills mapped to specific push button combinations. It's a lot more fluid than Hollow Realization's combat and information technology'south likewise more fun in one case you've got a grapheme fix up properly. Sword use admittedly feels a fleck cumbersome and the activeness tin can feel a fleck repetitive at times. At the same fourth dimension, I actually constitute the third-person gunplay to be enjoyable, reminding me a bit of the 3DS Lost Planet spinoff Due east.X. Troopers. I loved that game and felt bummed when it didn't sell well considering it provided a unique shooting experience you rarely see anywhere else. It'due south one reason I find Fatal Bullet to be enjoyable, especially when fighting against the game'southward challenging bosses.

Speaking of claiming, it can exist pretty high in this game, especially when playing with AI partners. I wouldn't draw them as incompetent only in that location were times when I found myself babysitting them because they would fall in boxing. Information technology's a bit annoying, peculiarly when information technology breaks you out of a good rhythm or gets you lot killed trying to help them out. It's also a chip weird seeing Kirito get endemic many times because his AI doesn't have the same plot armor that he does in the anime.
The story tin can admittedly exist trope-ish from an anime sense. It's non as big an issue for me considering my gustation in anime is pretty forgiving but folks who don't like the genre or a lot more than picky with their anime narratives might find it a scrap tired. In my case, I wish the regular characters got better stories. The storytelling understandably centers on the game's original characters but information technology seems like such a waste product to have the regular cast reduced to narrative placeholders.
All that being said, I surprisingly had more fun than I bargained for while playing this game. Parts of information technology are nevertheless a bit rough effectually the edges. But the core gameplay is solid and I had fun hitting the fields and various dungeons every bit I got in the thick of Fatal Bullet's grind. If you lot love games similar Due east.10. Troopers or are looking for a gun-heavy Monster Hunter style game with an anime coat of paint, this will be worth checking out.
FINAL THOUGHTS
As someone who loves Monster Hunter, Phantasy Star Online and the Lost Planet spinoff E.X. Troopers on the 3DS, I found "Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet" to be surprisingly enjoyable. Information technology still lacks polish in some areas and its anime-way look and story won't exist for everyone. If yous're looking for an MMO-inspired 3rd-person shooter with old-schoolhouse loot hunting and grinding plus online co-op, withal, Fatal Bullet just might hitting all the targets in your brain'due south pleasure centers.
